Cat's Log Sunday, January 9, 2000 Another key CATO agreement clause states that each species will treat adult members of the other species like adults.
At this point any hint that GlennaJo understands this concept would be major progress. She repeatedly refers to my majestic 20-lb frame as her "tiny kitten boy," and "the kitten of the bear." She picks me up and carries me around the house with my back to the floor like a human mother would carry a baby (we felines have more civilized methods for transporting young ones, but that's another column). Then there's the constant stream of baby talk--which is just too horrible to think about. Plus she refers to her mother as my "Granmama." Now, I really appreciate the fact that this white haired lady brings over bags of cat food and liver treats from time to time. But I draw the line at statements that my pedigree contains commoners. After all, respect is in the eye of the beholder. |
